Parent Update: 2nd Quarter 2012
Hello Parents!
I hope that you have been enjoying this spring weather! Here are some of the things that will be happening this spring at EEMCyouth.
Tuesdays – Aqua Community – 7:00pm to 8:30pm
We are mid-way through our study on Evangelism, and should wrap that up mid-May.
On May 1st we will be having AgapeFest instead of the normal Bible Study. Students are asked to bring some food to share.
On Tuesday June 12th we will be making and serving the meal at Ray of Hope Community Centre. We need to leave the church parking lot by 6:00, so we ask that everyone be here for 5:45. We will be back at the church for 9:15pm. We will be having a food prep day on Sunday June 10th after the service, lunch will be provided.
Events
April
Thursday 5th – Seder Meal (6:00pm)
The church is hosting a Messianic Seder Meal. This is a great opportunity that we are hoping all can attend; it shows how Christ is throughout the whole Passover celebration. The cost is $5, and if youth are wanting to attend they need to sign up, which can be done at the Welcome Centre, or if they talk to me (Matt).
4th to 18th – Mexico Missions Trip
Please remember to pray for Sean Boys, Jordan Martin, Dave Harris and Rachel Harris as they head down to Aguascalientes, Mexico to serve in Dulce Refugio, which is an orphanage.
Friday 20th – Mexico Missions Celebration (7:00 pm to 10:00pm)
We will be hearing stories from the Missions Trip team about their Mexico Trip, joining in Worship together and also a few group games afterwards.
May
Friday 4th – Redneck Night (7pm – 10pm)
You might be a redneck if you come home from the garbage dump with more than you went with… We will be having fun with watermelons, BBQ, trash, overalls, and a whole slew of odd games.
Friday 18th to Monday 21st – Pitch and Praise
Pitch & Praise is a camping retreat for high school students that draws nearly 2,000 people to Braeside Camp in Paris, Ontario, on the long weekend in May. The weekend includes speakers, worship, sports tournaments, concerts, games rooms, skateboarding, movies, optional seminars, swimming, talent shows, comedy acts, an open-mic stage, teaching sessions, small group interaction and more. The cost is $105 before April 30th ($125 after April 30th). The cost includes all meals, and students need to bring a warm sleeping bag and warm clothing, as we will be sleeping in tents. We will be departing at 6:00pm from the Church on Friday and the pickup will be at 1:30pm on Monday, at the Church.
June
Saturday 2nd – Car Wash Fundraiser (10:00am to 2pm)
We will be raising money for our sponsor children from Ecuador. This event is weather dependent, so if it is raining the event will be cancelled, which will be posted on the youth blog.
Friday 15th – The Year Ender (7:00pm to 10:30pm).
